Alternatives for Jail Expansion

Re the proposed 6,000-bed prison is being considered for construction in the Gypsum-Coal Canyon area:
The 112 homeowners within this association strongly protest the construction of such a facility in the proposed area. It is our belief that the traffic system in the area is not designed to accommodate such a facility, and will create extensive traffic problems for local residents, in addition to those traveling from the Riverside/San Bernardino areas into and out of Orange County.
Further, this prison is not appropriate for the particular area due to the number of families, community neighborhoods and local schools nearby. The potential harmful effect on the children and residents of these neighborhood areas would be substantial should a prison of the magnitude proposed be constructed so close to our homes, schools and businesses.
