ESTANCIA STUDENT ARTS WINNER

Kirstin Loeffler of Estancia High School in Costa Mesa has won first place in the 1987 Salute to the Arts high school art competition sponsored by the Newport Beach City Arts Commission.
Loeffler won the $250 purchase award for her painting “Sylvia, Hans, and I,” which will appear on all 1987 Salute to the Arts official promotional pieces.
Second place award of $100 went to Van Pham, also of Estancia High School.
Three students won third place awards of $50 each: Jack Chen of Estancia High, and Jennifer Bloomfield and Mariflor Rosello, both of Newport Harbor High School in Newport Beach.
Receiving honorable mention awards were Estancia High students Jenny Arnsdorf, Felina Danalis, Pam McKay and Mirian Rothman and Jessie Salcido of Newport Harbor High.
The 1987 Salute to the Arts officially begins in September. Selected artwork from the competition will be exhibited in the Lyon Room at the Newport Harbor Art Museum from Sept. 10 through Oct. 2.
