Irvine Lake Yields Record Catfish

Big catfish have been providing the best action for anglers at Irvine Lake, as Hatsady Pravongviengkhamh will attest.
The 35-year-old production worker from Santa Ana, fishing from shore, needed an hour to land a 59-pound 4-ounce blue catfish, a state record.
The four-foot-long lunker broke the previous record of 36 pounds 13 ounces, set in 1977 at Jennings Lake in San Diego County.
