Player Leads Seniors by a Stroke With 67

JERICHO, N.Y. — Gary Player shot a five-under-par 67 Thursday to take a one-stroke lead in the first round of the $300,000 Northville Invitational seniors golf tournament.
Billy Casper, Gene Littler and Charlie Owens were tied for second on the 6,475-yard Meadow Brook Club.
Charlie Sifford, winless on the PGA Seniors Tour since 1980, was at 69, and Chi Chi Rodriguez, the circuit’s leading money-winner this year, was at 70 with Bruce Crampton and Roberto DiVicenzo.
