Three men were temporarily overcome by fumes Friday morning as they were unloading drums of a chemical used to make plastic pipe, fire officials said.
The men became nauseated about 6 a.m. after they opened a truck containing 12 drums of butadiene at the Pacific Intermountain Express loading dock at 310 W. Grove Ave., said Jim Richardson, Orange Fire Department battalion chief.
James Brown, 29, of Anaheim, Thomas Barden, 44, of Whittier, and Hank Moreno, 38, of Irvine, were taken to St. Joseph Hospital, given oxygen and released, a hospital spokesman said.
An adjoining building was evacuated and Grove Avenue was closed for about an hour until investigators determined there was no real hazard.
