New Zealand’s Mercury Bay Boating Club has challenged the San Diego Yacht Club to a match race in June 1988 under the terms of the America’s Cup Deed of Gift. The deed gives any yacht club the right of sailing against any yacht constructed in the country of the club holding the America’s Cup.
