Seven people were injured in a three-vehicle accident caused by a stolen pickup truck fleeing Border Patrol agents with 15 illegal aliens aboard, authorities said. The truck rear-ended a Ford truck, which, in turn, collided with a car at the San Ysidro border station. Two children in the fleeing truck, 4-year-old Javier Contreras and 12-year-old Elzia Rios, were in good condition at Children’s Hospital of San Diego, spokeswoman Terry Merryman said. Others involved in the collisions were listed in fair to good condition, were treated and released or were not injured. Driver Baltazar Garcia Andrade, 28, and a passenger, Jose Alvarado Ortega, 21, were arrested by the Border Patrol on suspicion of smuggling and transporting illegal aliens, said patrol spokesman Wayne Kirkpatrick.
