Jamaican Prime Minister Edward Seaga criticized Britain’s policy toward South Africa’s “abhorrent apartheid regime” and told Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher that “constructive dialogue” by their respective nations could help solve racial strife there. Seaga made the comments in a toast during Thatcher’s one-day visit to help mark Jamaica’s 25th anniversary of independence from Britain.
