Can it be that Stan Delaplane (June 28) had such an ill-informed guide in China that he was told that the Temple of Heaven is in Tiananmen Square? I suggest he check it out, for the square across from which the Forbidden City is located is quite some distance away. The Forbidden City or Imperial Palace had nearer 900 rooms than the 9,999 1/2 figure he quotes. Maybe when glasnost comes to the PRC we’ll get more enlightened coverage.
