Gov. Deukmejian’s Cuts on Health and School Funds
- Share via
With his vindictive budget-slashing directed at State School Supt. Bill Honig, and his threats of fiscal retaliation directed at Los Angeles Mayor Tom Bradley and the Eastside political organization over the L.A. County prison site, Deukmejian is acting like the elementary school bully who, after being called names, goes to the sandlot and kicks down everyone’s little sand castle.
One would think that Deukmejian would make his budgetary decisions based not on his personal problems with other elected officials, but on the will of his constituents, the people of California.
If he continues to use his power over public moneys to deal with personal problems, I have a feeling the state of California is going to lose Deukmejian.
