Santa Ana : Council Votes $150,000 to Mount PR Campaign
- Share via
The City Council voted Monday to give the Chamber of Commerce $150,000 as part of a three-year public relations campaign to improve the city’s image.
Councilman John Acosta cast the lone vote against the city’s participation in the program, saying it was too costly and duplicated the city’s own public relations campaign, which is targeted at businesses.
The chamber had estimated that its program, called Santa Ana Proud, would have cost about $1.4 million in the next three years, with $750,000 coming from the city. But the council authorized just part of the $250,000 requested by the chamber this year.
The city will re-evaluate annually its participation in the program--which will include a newsletter, promotional brochures and a cable TV program.
