Random House said it has asked the Supreme Court to review a lower court ruling barring its publication of Ian Hamilton’s biography of J.D. Salinger, author of “Catcher in the Rye,” “Franny and Zooey” and other books. Salinger contends that Random House is infringing on his copyright by publishing letters he wrote. The action follows a U.S. 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals decision not to reconsider its ruling barring publication of the book.
