Van Nuys Wins in Babe Ruth Regional

Chris Vesquez hit a grand slam and Kevin Milligan drove in four runs to lead the Van Nuys-Sherman Oaks Babe Ruth League all-star team to a 12-3 win Saturday over Glendale, Ariz., in the Pacific-Southwest regional tournament in Taylorsville, Utah.
Robbie Davis added two hits, including a solo home run. Pitchers Jason Edwards and Herman Miranda combined on a three-hitter. Edwards allowed no runs on two hits in four innings and Miranda worked the final three innings to secure the victory in the first round of the nine-team, double-elimination tournament.
Van Nuys-Sherman Oaks resumes play Tuesday at 5 p.m. against Guam.
