An NCAA committee confirmed an earlier report by recommending that member schools vote in January on whether they want a one-game playoff to determine the national collegiate football champion.

A special subcommittee, which has studied the issue for several years, said that it will recommend to the NCAA Council that a resolution be put on the agenda of the annual meeting in January, said DeLoss Dodds, athletic director at Texas and chairman of the subcommittee.
