Downey : Council Approves Raises

The Downey City Council Tuesday approved 4% salary increases for the city manager, firefighters and other city employees.
The action boosted the salary of City Manager Don Davis to $82,368 a year, retroactive to June 29.
The council also approved a two-year agreement that provides a 4% raise effective last July 27 for 68 Fire Department employees. They will receive a 5% increase next July 4.
Thirty-four police and fire dispatchers, fingerprint personnel, parking enforcement officers and police clerks, as well as 65 bus drivers, mechanics and maintenance workers represented by Teamsters Local 911, will get a 4% raise this year and another 4% in the next fiscal year.
