BEIJING — Queen Elizabeth II has written letters praising international telephone operators in Shanghai, where she visited last year, an official newspaper said Friday.
The queen wrote to authorities that she had made 313 international calls during her two-day stay in Shanghai, with only 86 seconds of average waiting time before being connected, the Economic Daily said.
Shanghai’s telephone system is notorious as the most overloaded in China, and residents say they often have to wait minutes before even getting a dial tone.
