Santa Anita Fashion Park Will Undergo Renovation

Santa Anita Fashion Park in Arcadia, a regional shopping center that opened next door to Santa Anita Park race track in October, 1974, will undergo a $10.5-million redesign and renovation, according to the Hahn Co. and Santa Anita Realty Enterprises Inc., partners in the project.
The Jerde Partnership, the Los Angeles-based architectural firm that designed Horton Plaza in San Diego and MainPlace Santa Ana in Santa Ana, designed the renovation that will create a 60-foot-tall glass-block tower in the center court, add skylights and expose the steel roof trusses.
Water features will be added to the Broadway and J C Penney court areas and colonnades of Washingtonia palms and crape myrtle trees will be among the new exterior elements.
Construction will begin next January, with completion scheduled for October, 1988, according to Hahn president John M. Gilchrist Jr.
