Regarding the Sept. 1 Times Board of Economists column, “American Dream Growing Elusive,” by David M. Gordon:
The likelihood of upward mobility is less and less possible. Past generations have entered the palace grounds and shut the gate behind them. Wherefore, democracy? I wonder and I worry.
