Smoke From Plastics Fire Forces 2,000 From Homes

EAST FARMINGDALE, N.Y. — About 2,000 people were evacuated from their homes Tuesday because of potentially hazardous smoke from a plastics fire, officials said. Police said the evacuations were ordered because of the chemicals, including cyanide, produced by burning toys and novelty items at Lexony International Corp.
