The State Department has given the Washington office of the Palestine Liberation Organization a six-week extension to allow an orderly shutdown of its operations. The PLO-funded Palestine Information Office now has until Dec. 1 to comply with the closure order issued Sept. 16 by the State Department, spokesman Charles Redman said. The department, citing its concerns over terrorism committed by some groups associated with the PLO, originally had set a deadline of Wednesday. The office employs eight staff members, all of them American citizens or legal residents.
