USC’s Prevent Defense Is Preventing Wins
It’s pretty obvious that USC football Coach Larry Smith made a big mistake in not retaining Artie Gigantino as USC’s defensive coordinator. USC’s helter-skelter, hapless defensive style is laughable.
A possible solution would be for Coach Smith to consult John McKay on how defense should be played. McKay’s teams played tough, intelligent defense. They also displayed great tackling skills and what McKay termed “striking power” in their aggressive hitting ability.
