Local News in Brief : Library Staff Seeks Space

Already faced with numerous problems, the Los Angeles Central Library staff has to ponder a new one: the loss of its temporary headquarters.
Since last year’s two arson-set fires devastated the library, officials have been working on the 35th floor of one of the Arco Towers downtown in space donated by the oil company and, for the last six months, by Bank of America.
But now Bank of America has a tenant for the floor, which rents for $63,000 a month, and the library staff must move, according to Central Library Director Elizabeth K. Gay.
Gay said she hopes to find new quarters on Spring Street. Library officials say their goal is to open a refurbished and expanded Central Library by 1992.
