In the county’s second largest drug bust, Los Angeles sheriff’s deputies seized $3.2 million in cash and 1,760 pounds of cocaine, and arrested a Mexican national on suspicion of conspiracy to distribute the drug.
Jose G. Martinez was arrested Monday night at a home in Maywood where deputies said the cash was stashed in a garage. The cocaine was seized several hours later in two bedrooms at a home in Hacienda Heights. Martinez is being held on $1-million bail at the Norwalk station. At least three other persons are being sought in the investigation, authorities said. The largest seizure to date was 2,000 pounds made several months ago by Los Angeles Police.
