Wagner Tops Gianulias for Bowling Victory

Lisa Wagner of Palmetto, Fla., defeated top-seeded Nikki Gianulias of Vallejo, Calif., 206-177, in the final of the Ladies Touring Players Assn. Active West Invitational Thursday at Carter Bowl Lanes in Fullerton.
Gianulias had trouble getting started, leaving three open frames after weak first hits.
Wagner took advantage and clinched her 14th career victory with a strike in the ninth frame and two more in the 10th.
In the earlier matches of the stepladder format, Jeanne Maiden of Solon, Ohio, beat Cindy Coburn of Buffalo, N.Y., 216-189, and Leanne Barrette of Oklahoma City, 234-226, before losing to Wagner in the semifinals, 236-214.
Wagner won $4,000 and Gianulias $2,000.
