Police are warning residents about a man making fraudulent solicitation telephone calls asking for money for a nonexistent charity club, a spokesman said Friday.
Garden Grove Police Lt. Scott Hamilton said several women have called the department to ask about the authenticity of the solicitations. The callers told police that a man who identified himself as Mike Johnson has asked for solicitations for the Garden Grove Police Women’s Auxiliary.
Hamilton said there is no such auxiliary. He did not know if anyone has lost money through the scheme.
