Valley, Moorpark Win in Basketball

Valley College defeated Orange Coast, 79-51, and Moorpark beat Cypress, 71-69, in the first round of the Cal State Fullerton women’s basketball tournament Thursday night.
Traci Atkins scored a game-high 21 points and Bernadette Tillis added 17 points and 12 assists for Valley (2-0).
Carol Kellick sank a 15-foot jump shot with 33 seconds left to lift Moorpark. Karina Hardmen scored a game-high 22 points, Kellick added 21 and Michelle Brown had 17 for Moorpark (1-1).
