Woodbridge 35, St. Genevieve 0--Quarterback Fred Schweer threw two 33-yard touchdown passes to lead the Warriors to a victory over St. Genevieve in a first-round playoff game at Irvine High.
Woodbridge (10-1) held St. Genevieve (6-5) to four yards rushing and dominated from the opening kickoff. Most of the 98 passing yards gained by St. Genevieve came when the game was out of reach.
Schweer completed 7 of 14 passes for 139 yards and 2 touchdowns. His first 33-yard scoring pass to receiver Dax Jordan gave the Warriors a 21-0 lead. Receiver Derrick Odum also caught a 33-yard pass in the third quarter for Woodbridge’s final touchdown.
Running back John Rios gained 83 of Woodbridge’s 126 rushing yards.
St. Genevieve quarterback Leo Cortez completed 9 of 17 passes for 93 yards. Tight end Marc Colon and wide receiver Al Hernandez had three catches each. The Valiants’ leading rusher, Ruben Aguirre, gained 14 yards in eight carries.
