Three newly reelected members of the Rolling Hills Estates City Council--Hugh H. Muller, Warren Schwarzmann and Peter Weber--were sworn in last week.
Schwarzmann also took over as mayor from Muller, who concluded his one-year term as part of the council’s annual rotation of duties. Council member Nell Mirels was voted mayor pro tem.
“Even though lots of times it’s very fun and rewarding to serve as mayor, I’m more than happy to pass it on to Warren,” Muller said in handing over the gavel to the new mayor.
Schwarzmann said one of his goals as mayor will be to devise a practical recycling plan for the city, possibly using state funds. He said he also wants to encourage citizen participation in government.
“My goal will be to increase communication between the council and staff, between the council and the citizens and between the citizens and the staff,” Schwarzmann said.
