Expansion at Wayne Airport
I do hope that your diagram of the proposed John Wayne Airport terminal was in error (Nov. 18). First, it shows the departures traffic pulling up in front of the baggage claim areas, and the arrivals traffic stopping by the ticket counters. (The Times regrettably was in error on this point, which was noted in a subsequent correction.)
Secondly, there appear to be many too few ticket counters. If the terminal has been designed to deal with an average of 25,000 passengers a day, getting them through the ticketing and boarding pass process should take precedence over restaurants and concessions.
When I join the throngs on a Monday morning trying to get on a plane to a far city for a business meeting, or the hordes of skiers on Friday afternoon wanting to get to the Rockies, I really do not care much about dining or shopping--I only want to get on my flight as painlessly as possible.
