The World : Indonesia Disaster Kills 42

At least 42 people in Indonesia were killed, and many more were reported missing after an earthquake triggered landslides and a tidal wave on a remote island in the eastern part of the country. A rescue official said a tidal wave 160 feet high “just swept everything off the coast.” Search and rescue agencies said 75 people were missing after the quake hit Pantar Island on Thursday. More than 100 islanders were injured and an estimated 1,000 houses, stores and government offices were damaged.
