Clipper center Benoit Benjamin, who grew up in Monroe, La., and attended Creighton University in Nebraska, gave Southern University a check for $10,000.

John Rabun, who presented the check, said Benjamin is interested in giving something back to the black community and plans to make an annual gift to the Louisiana school as long as he plays in the National Basketball Assn.
