Sir Rudolf and Lady Carroll Bing arrived in New York from London on Monday to try to untangle his financial affairs, including a court decision declaring the former New York opera impresario incapable of handling his $900,000 estate. A New York Supreme Court judge ruled in June that the 85-year-old Bing, who is afflicted with Alzheimer’s disease, was unable to take care of his own affairs and barred Bing’s wife, Carroll, 48, from spending any of his assets or incurring any debts in his name. More recently, a court-appointed conservator began proceedings to annul the couple’s 11-month marriage. During their eight-month stay in Britain, Bing was reported missing on at least three occasions but was found each time by police.
