Be it heartfelt belief or early contract negotiations, “Cheers” star Ted Danson said this weekend that his days as Sam the barkeep are numbered. Danson told the Associated Press that he has made a deal with the show’s producers that will keep him on the popular NBC series through the end of next season, but that “my guess would be that would be it.” Shelley Long bailed out before this season and Kirstie Alley joined the cast. As with Long, Danson said he feels it’s time for a career change.
