Bolshoi Ballet grande dame Maya Plisetskaya on Monday left Moscow for Madrid, where she assumes responsibilities as artistic director of Spain’s National Ballet. Plisetskaya, who continues to dance at 62, will spend six months a year in Spain and six months in the Soviet Union under a two-year contract announced last summer. She told the official Soviet news agency Tass that she would be back in Moscow on Dec. 30 to appear in a ballet based on Chekhov’s “The Seagull.” Plisetskaya made her Bolshoi debut 43 years ago.
