Former First Lady Betty Ford returned to her Rancho Mirage home, 10 days after undergoing quadruple bypass heart surgery. Ann Cullen, her spokeswoman, said she is expected to resume her usual activities in several weeks. Mrs. Ford, 69, who battled cancer during her husband’s presidency and later overcame drug and alcohol addiction, was admitted to the Eisenhower Medical Center on Nov. 15. On Nov. 20, during a six-hour operation performed by Heart Institute of the Desert founder Dr. Jack Sternlieb and a team of nine surgeons, four clogged arteries of Mrs. Ford’s heart were cleared.
