Australian Greg Norman broke two long-standing records in a 10-shot victory in the rain-delayed $207,000 Australian Open at the Royal Melbourne Course.
Norman, who won $38,000, earned his first win in 10 months, shooting a 71, one under par, for a 72-hole score of 273, 15 under.
Former British Open champion Sandy Lyle, who shot a 70, was a distant second at 283.
Norman, who won the tournament for the third time, broke the tournament scoring record of 278 at Royal Melbourne, set by Gary Player in 1963. He also broke the record for the greatest winning margin in the tournament, set in 1971, when Jack Nicklaus beat Bruce Crampton by eight shots.
