‘Un-Scroogelike’
Thank you for “Un-Scroogelike” (Editorial, Dec. 5), which described how the USC credit union allowed a borrower in the region hard hit by the Oct. 1 earthquake to skip the December payment on a loan, to help the borrower recover financially from that calamity. Such an action deserves widespread attention, for it demonstrates how a small act of caring can provide tremendous relief to individuals temporarily in need of assistance. Your editorial told a moving and welcome story of compassion that stood far above the gloom, anger and disdain that regularly cover these pages.
