Pat Porter Wins Race in France

PARIS — American champion Pat Porter won the Le Figaro men’s cross-country race Sunday while another American, Lynn Jennings, finished third in the women’s race.
Porter, who recently took his sixth U.S. national title, ran 12 kilometers (7.5 miles) in 38 minutes even to beat Frenchman Pierre Levisse by nine seconds. French champion Paul Arpin was a late scratch for the race in the Bois de Boulogne.
Jennings was third in the women’s 4-kilometer (2.5-mile) race. France’s Marie-Pierre Duros won in 13:39, with another Frenchwoman, Florence Giolitti, taking second in 13:41.
