Local News in Brief : City Hall Closed 11 Days
- Share via
The doors at El Segundo City Hall will be locked today and will not be reopened until Jan. 4.
As part of an experiment to save the city money, about 100 El Segundo city employees have agreed to either take vacation or paid leave of absence during the 11-day period, said city spokeswoman Ilene Hunter. The city is expected to save money because many employees typically take time off during the busier summer months when temporary workers must be hired to take their places, she said.
Although City Hall will be dark, police, fire and other emergency services will operate as usual. The city’s library will be open Monday through Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
