PITTSBURGH, Pa. — Mayor Richard Caliguiri, who disclosed in October that he is suffering from the rare and incurable disease amyloidosis, was hospitalized Wednesday complaining of lightheadedness, a spokesman at Shadyside Hospital said.
Caliguiri, 56, was listed in stable condition in the cardiac care unit.
It was not clear if his symptoms were related to amyloidosis, a potentially fatal disease that damages the body’s organs. Caliguiri said previously that the disease had affected a “small portion” of his heart.
