Westwood : UCLA Survey Receives Grant

UCLA has received a $60,000 grant to support its annual nationwide survey of college freshmen.

The award was given by the Lilly Endowment of Indianapolis to the UCLA Cooperative Institutional Research Program (CIRP), which has been conducting the surveys since 1966. Based at UCLA’s Higher Education Research Institute in the Graduate School of Education, the survey tests attitudes, values, life goals, career aspirations and expectations of college among 300,000 students at more than 575 colleges and universities. It is the nation’s largest and oldest empirical study of higher education.

“The CIRP is a major national resource, which has made major contributions to our understanding of postsecondary education,” said Ralph E. Lundgren, program director for education at the Lilly Endowment. “The endowment is delighted to support this important work.”
