Family Savings & Loan Assn., the nation’s fourth-largest black-owned thrift, has retained Beverly Hills lawyer Milton Feinerman to investigate certain transactions involving the thrift and its chairman, Oliver A. Trigg Jr., Feinerman said. Feinerman, a former president of the Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco, was hired Oct. 22, about two weeks after a Times story reported that Family Savings had purchased land in Whittier from a company formed by Trigg. Trigg said he welcomes the investigation and that he believes Feinerman will find no evidence of wrongdoing. Feinerman said he expects to complete his study in three to four weeks.
