Egypt Freeing 57 Jailed for Anti-Israel Protest

CAIRO — Egyptian security officials Wednesday ordered the release on bail of 57 students detained after a demonstration against Israeli actions in the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip, the Middle East News Agency said.
Police used batons and tear gas Tuesday to disperse the demonstrators outside Cairo’s Ein Shams University.
“The prosecution has charged them with participation in a forbidden demonstration,” the state-run agency said.
