Community College Basketball : Fullerton Suffers Cold Spell, and Cerritos Takes Advantage

Fullerton College was held to four points in the final 4 minutes and 29 seconds as Cerritos rallied for a 79-75 victory Wednesday in the South Coast Conference men’s basketball opener at Fullerton.
Geoffrey Adams’ layup gave Fullerton a 73-71 lead with 4:29 left. Adams had another layup with 2:33 left to give the Hornets a 75-71 lead. But Fullerton (10-7, 0-1) missed five shots, including two three-pointers, and didn’t score again the rest of the way.
Cerritos (12-6, 1-0) tied the score, 75-75, on a tip-in by Chris Naulls with 2:21 left. David Porter made a six-foot jumper to give Cerritos the lead, 77-75, with 48 seconds left.
Jim Taylor made two free throws with 29 seconds left to clinch the victory.
Milt Robinson led Cerritos with 21 points, 17 in the first half, and Porter and Taylor scored 15 each.
Roy Joseph scored 21, including 17 in the first half, and Kevin Patrick added 20 for Fullerton.
