Long Beach Deputy City Manager John Williams has pleaded guilty to a single count of driving under the influence of alcohol.
Long Beach Municipal Judge Thomas R. Simpson sentenced Williams to a program for alcohol-related offenders and ordered him to pay $777 in fines.
Williams was arrested the evening of Dec. 29 after officers noticed he was driving erratically. He was booked at a police station, then given a ride home by Police Chief Lawrence Binkley. Officers said they called Binkley to the station in keeping with the chief’s policy of personally supervising bookings of city administrators or police officers.
