IRON RIVER, Mich. — An explosion ripped through a high school weight room today, injuring 18 students and a gym teacher, authorities said.
The explosion occurred at 8 a.m. in a weight room in the boy’s locker room next to the gymnasium of West Iron County High School, State Trooper Paul Hytinen said. He said investigators speculated that an underground gas line might have broken, allowing gas to seep into the building.
