McDonnell Douglas Astronautics in Huntington Beach said one of its Delta II rockets will be used to launch a commercial communications satellite for the Indonesian government in early 1990. Company officials did not disclose the terms of the order but said commercial Delta launches typically cost about $50 million. Indonesia’s commercial order is the fifth for the Delta rockets since last August. McDonnell Douglas has been seeking commercial customers for the rocket since the National Aeronautics and Space Administration dropped out of the commercial launch business after the explosion of the space shuttle Challenger two years ago.
