CHANDIGARH, India — Militant Sikh gunmen seeking an independent homeland sped through three Punjab villages on scooters on Saturday night, killing eight people in the north Indian state, police said Sunday. The gunmen poured automatic fire into homes of suspected informants in the villages near Amritsar.
