A recent poll of more than 1,000 top executives indicates that their confidence in the U.S. economy is recovering in the wake of the stock market’s collapse six months ago, the Conference Board reported. During the first quarter, the board’s measure of business confidence registered 51 after falling to a five-year low of 47 in the final quarter of 1987. The measure reflects a scale of 0 to 100.
