COMPTON — Modification of traffic signals at Central Avenue and El Segundo Boulevard is scheduled to start in June. The intersection is in unincorporated territory at the northwest tip of Compton.
The county-funded project will include installation of traffic sensors to detect the presence of vehicles and trigger signal changes, addition of internally illuminated street name signs and safety lighting, and modification of pedestrian signals with international symbols.
The work is expected to take about 20 days and be completed sometime in July.
